I welcome you to the Computer Lab, and to a year full of learning and growing. 

There are a number of modules that the students learn about during the school year. These modules may include the following:

During a weekly lab visit, the students increase their computer literacy skills using NETS  Standards.  The students have opportunities to gain experience in typing and varied software programs by running educational programs which will enhance critical thinking and problem-solving skills.

Grade 1 students learn basic computer parts, mouse skills, word processing, awareness of the internet through the use of online curriculum-based learning sites, and graphics lessons using the different drawing software.  Students learn how to use correct posture, hand, arm and fingering positions to type complete sentences (including the shift for capital letters, space bar for spacing and punctuation keys). Students are able to identify functions represented by symbols and icons commonly found in application programs.

Students use the lab as a learning tool to better prepare them for a successful future in today's technology based world.
